The Significance of Gratitude

Believe this Gratitude is Significant and has some powerful Effects both on the sender and the receiver and let no person tell you otherwise!

Don't be confused about this: Appreciation is not ordinary! There is something important and powerful about it.

Let me share this with you. In Nigeria where i came from there are three major tribes and the minorities. The three major tribes are: Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo (Ibo).

Among these three tribes it seems the most successful and prosperous is the Yoruba tribe. Please my analysis is void of personal sentiment, prejudice and subjectivity.

Good a thing I'm not from Yoruba tribe. I"m only driving at something to establish my claim. If any person disputes my claim he or she is at liberty to furnish facts in the contrary.

The question is why are the Yorubas' seemingly more successful? The answer is rooted in one of the attitudes and attributes of these people which is characteristic Gratitude or thankfulness.

Beyond thankfulness this characteristic has made them naturally very humble. As you know you cannot be grateful and not be humble.

Among the three major tribes, they are the most humble.

It follows that anytime you show kindness or good gesture to a Yoruba person he or she will not stop thanking you no matter how long it has taken. They have a customized way or greeting to express appreciation for the past kindness they have enjoyed from somebody.

To them kindness or good gesture enjoyed can never be forgotten or gone out of remembrance. You always see them telling somebody from whom they have enjoyed one kindness or another: "Thank you for yesterday", Thank you for the other day", "Thank you for two weeks ago" and so on. Even when their benefactor has forgotten what he or she did; they will still use Appreciation to remind him or her. What a virtue!

Their characteristic Gratitude has taught me one big lesson that kindness or good gesture does not grow old and should never be forgotten by anyone who has received or enjoyed it. If kindness is never old or to be forgotten; it then means that Gratitude is a debt, and must be paid by the debtor when and as due!

One of the success secrets of the Yoruba person in Nigeria is the Attitude of Gratitude. When you see them doing it; it's either he or she is prostrating, kneeling or bowing down his or head in obeisance to demonstrate that it is from the heart not fake. I think other tribes in Nigeria should learn from that.

I want to believe that you have learned something about the Significance of Gratitude in this Easter Sunday edition. If you have my mission of doing this is accomplished.

Until i come your way again with the next edition I want to pray for you that God will release on you Grace for Gratitude and humility towards God and man irrespective of how high or low you have been placed in life, in Jesus name.

You will succeed in life!
